Jeni and Josh’s breathtakingly beautiful, intimate Lory State Park wedding will have you swooning and asking how to plan your elopement in Colorado. Don’t worry–we’re sharing all the details. There are so many reasons to have a Lory State Park wedding, one being that the gorgeous landscape makes you feel far away, although you’re less than 30 minutes from downtown Fort Collins. It’s the perfect place to elope in Northern Colorado, and we’re going to give you the inside scoop on how to plan the ideal Lory State Park elopement from start to finish using our Colorado elope packages!

Why Choose a Lory State Park Wedding?

As we mentioned, Lory State Park has some of the most beautiful views in Northern Colorado without having to drive hours away from the city. That makes it an easy choice for an elopement, especially if you want a few friends or family members by your side when you say, “I do.” Although an elopement can just be the couple and the needed vendors, we offer elopement packages for up to 30 guests!

When to Elope in Lory State Park?

Time of day matters when planning your Lory State Park wedding or elopement. We highly recommend marrying first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds and get the park to yourself. Because it is a public space, you might have a larger guest list of strangers if you elope during popular days or times. Eloping first thing in the morning also means you get a full first day of marriage, and what could be better than that?

Where to Elope in Lory State Park?

You’d be hard-pressed to find a spot in the park that doesn’t offer gorgeous views of either the mountains or the lake or some vast meadow in between. However, there are three designated places for a Lory State Park wedding where you can elope: Soldier Canyon, Timber, and South Eltuck.

Soldier Canyon in Lory State Park is a picnic area nestled beside beautiful red sandstone hogbacks, offering a rustic and natural setting for your elopement. The site is large enough to accommodate over 100 people but can also be transformed into an intimate elopement location.

Timber is another picnic area a bit off the beaten path and surrounded by plains, cottonwoods, and rolling hills. The site has a covered structure and can accommodate up to 100 people, so there’s plenty of room for a wedding of two!

South Eltuck is the smallest Lory State Park wedding venue and can accommodate up to 50 people. It is a rolling, grassy meadow with red sandstone hogbacks in the background.

Each option offers unique scenery and a gorgeous backdrop for your Northern Colorado elopement in Lory State Park. If you aren’t sure which option is best for you, we can help you decide! Plus, they are all included in our Colorado elope packages.
