5 Wedding Itinerary Ideas for Your Colorado Guests to Enjoy

From hiking to water sports to exploring and enjoying the city life, there are so many fun things to do in Colorado. Here are some of our favorite activities and wedding itinerary ideas:

1. Explore Horsetooth Reservoir

Horsetooth Reservoir is a six-and-a-half-mile reservoir of water. You can hike the trails, mountain bike, and even rent kayaks to explore on the water. With some of the best views in Northern Colorado, this is also one of our favorite elopement locations where many Mountainside Events couples have said, “I do!”

2. Stop by the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery

For a bit of indoor, family-friendly fun, visit the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. With hands-on science and history exhibits, it is a great indoor activity that is enjoyable, educational, and accessible even if Colorado weather takes a turn for the worst.

3. Hike in Lory State Park

For more avid hikers, Lory State Park offers 26 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails. This is a great kid-friendly and pet-friendly outing with multiple hikes varying in length and difficulty for Colorado wedding guests of all ages and abilities. The breathtaking views are hard to beat, which is why Lory State Park is also an ideal Colorado elopement location.

4. Visit Rocky Mountain National Park

Depending on where your Colorado ceremony takes place, guests may be able to visit Rocky Mountain National Park while in town for your wedding. Just over an hour’s drive from Fort Collins, this national park is the number one attraction in Colorado, and for a good reason. With hundreds of peaks, countless lakes, forests, and meadows, there are so many ways to explore. However, for your Colorado wedding guests who may not have too much free time on their hands, we suggest driving the Trail Ridge Road through the park, which offers stops along the way to take in all the Rocky Mountains have to offer.

5. Enjoy Colorado’s Finest Foods and Breweries

While Colorado is definitely known for its outdoor recreation, it’s also known for its downtown food scene. From Denver to Boulder to Fort Collins and beyond, there are many unique cities to explore in the area boasting some of the top-rated restaurants around. Do you have a favorite restaurant in Colorado? Let your guests know where to go and what to order to experience Colorado’s best foods and brews, and maybe even try Rocky Mountain Oysters if they dare.

Why Wedding Itinerary Ideas for Before and After the Wedding?

Now, you may be wondering why we suggest having a list of things to do in Colorado for your wedding guests. Even if they are traveling from out of state, the whole reason is to attend your wedding, not go on vacation, right? This is definitely true. However, there will undoubtedly be some downtime between wedding events, especially if you’re planning a weekend-long celebration. Additionally, out-of-town guests often give themselves buffer days before and after the wedding to avoid rushing in and rushing out.

Because of this, having a list of wedding itinerary ideas for before and after your celebration is a great idea. We suggest curating a list of your favorite things to do, see, experience, and eat in the area and include it on your wedding website. Hiking your favorite trail or trying the food at your favorite restaurant is meaningful to guests who are excited to immerse themselves in your life around your wedding.
